Code of Conduct
The IDEAS Symposium is designed as an event by and for the SFU community, and therefore we are fully committed to building and maintaining an environment of respect, mutual support and professional collaboration. All attendees of IDEAS are expected to adhere to this Code of Conduct, which applies throughout the conference period.

All attendees, SFU staff and visiting community members are to be treated with respect and the consideration due to fellow colleagues. The IDEAS Symposium is dependent on the open and constructive sharing of ideas, and our behaviour as attendees should reflect this goal. The rules of SFU’s facilities must be abided at all times, and any violation of these rules should be reported to IDEAS Organizing Committee members immediately.

Harassment or hostile behaviour towards attendees, staff or community members will not be tolerated. These behaviours include, but are not limited to discriminatory speech or behaviour based on class, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic class, religion, disability or any other variety, the usage of inappropriate images in presentations or posters, recording or photographing an attendee’s work without their permission, unwanted physical or sexual contact/attention, disruption of presentations or physical/verbal abuse.

If you observe or are subjected to any of the above, or have any concerns about an event or attendee conduct please contact an IDEAS Organizing Committee member as soon as possible. Your information will remain strictly confidential upon approaching a committee member, and potential courses of action will take place only with your informed consent. The IDEAS Organizing Committee reserves the right to take whatever action it deems necessary to ensure the safety and wellbeing of attendees, SFU staff and community members. This may include removal from IDEAS and bans from attending future meetings, at the discretion of the Organizing Committee.

All registrants will be required to agree to the terms of this Code of Conduct upon registration, and agreement to this Code will be noted and records kept for the purpose of ensuring compliance. If you have any concerns or questions please email the Organizing Committee at sfu.ideas.symposium@gmail.com.
